Garden Upgrade: Blending Functionality with Aesthetics

project details

Our client envisioned a garden upgrade that seamlessly integrated a convenient storage area with a dedicated space for a home gym. Rejecting the idea of a conventional shed, they sought a design that not only met functional needs but also enhanced the overall aesthetics of the garden.

During the design phase, we identified a substantial area that allowed us to craft a dual-style garden room. This innovative approach involved creating a secure storage room while preserving a large open-plan space suitable for a home gym. To avoid the typical shed appearance, we introduced a pitched roof, a design choice that required planning permission from the local council. This extra step, while extending the turnaround time, was crucial to ensuring a unique and council-approved garden upgrade.

Once planning permission was granted, the construction process unfolded over approximately five weeks. The room was finished with composite cladding, UPVC doors and windows, and a secure door in the storage area. The pitched roof was adorned with flat grey tiles, adding a touch of sophistication to the overall design.

The interior was thoughtfully curated, featuring solid wood flooring throughout and a light paint scheme to create an inviting atmosphere. To enhance convenience, a small kitchen area with washing facilities was incorporated. An air conditioning unit was strategically added to maintain a cool environment during exercise sessions.

Collaborating with Planet Turf, a trusted partner on several projects, we seamlessly integrated the garden upgrade with the surrounding landscape. They expertly laid a hard-wearing turf and patio area, creating a harmonious transition from the garden room to the outdoor space.
